Dear Sanderson,
I enclose a copy of an
official letter which we have sent to the
Ministry proposing that a suitable person
should now be selected to procéed with
planning the reorganisation and
rehabilitation of the Hong Kong Harbour
services on the lines recommended in
Sir David Owen's report. We should be very grateful indeed for any assistance which you may be able to give us in finding a suitable candidate for this
very important post. In this connection
I should mention that two possible names
The first is have been suggested to us.
Mr. C. J. Coleman, member of the
Calcutta Ports Commission, who I understand
is now serving as Chairman of the Port
of Basra. The second is that of
Mr. Charles Ree, who I understand is
Assistant General Manager of the hersey
Docks and Harbor Board. We should be
very grateful for your views on whether
either of these two gentlemen would be suitable
