LT/COL. C. R. CLARK, G.M., R.E.

1914-1915 Royal Flying Corps and Canadian Field Artillery.

1939 Joined No.3 Docks Group, R.E. on mobilisation. Went to France, 1940 with rank of Captain. In France he was in charge of 2 main quays at Havre handling personnel and cargoes put ashore there. Evacuated from France June 1940 and appointed Major. 1941 was posted to the

Port of Suez and became Dock Superintendent with the rank of

Lieutenant-Colonel. He still holds this post, but since 1943 has carried out the additional duties of A.Q.M.G.(M) in the Southern Canal Area. Has considerable experience of handling native labour in the Middle East.

From 1918-1939 Colonel Clark was on the staff of the Traffic Manager of the P.L.A. holding executive positions which gave him experience of all practical out-door phases of warehousing and ships discharge. In 1939 he was in charge of the grain discharge arrangements in the East and West Indies and Millwall Docks.

Age 42.

In 1941 he became a Major in the Royal Berkshire Regiment and in 1942 was appointed Commandant of the 54th Division Street Fighting School. Later he was transferred to Transportation Branch and proceeded to North Africa as Second-in-Command of Port Operating Group, R.E. Was appointed Port Superintendent at Bone until his Group was transferred to Italy, where he acted as Second-in-Command until he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and placed in command of No.6 I.W.T. Group in 1945. He has had considerable experience during the war in operating small craft of all kinds.

Prior to the war he spent most of his time in the firm of Hernu, Peron and Stockwell Limited, Shipping, Continental and Colonial Agents. He had experience overseas in France. His commercial experience brought him into contact with road and rail transport and with the business of Shipping Brokers and Chartering Agents.

LT/COL R. R. M. BARR, R.E.

Few particulars are at present available about this officer, but it is known that the Chief Representatives M.W.T. North West Europe pew his work as a Transportation Officer in 21 A.G. and thought well of it.

It is known that he was in the service of the L & N.E.R before the war and it is believed that he has had considerable experience in Port working since the war broke out. More particulars about him can be fairly readily obtained and his name is included in this statement, because he is known to be a capable and active officer.
