Dear Mactier,

You will remember that we had

some correspondence last month about a

possible Secretary for the proposed

Hong Kong Harbour Trust and that the

Admiralty were unable to release to us

Lt. Commander I.W. Freathy.

I have not written to you further

in regard to this matter because we were wanted

-anxious to clear the position in regard

to the Chairman-designate of the Trust.

As you know, Mr. C.J.Colman is at present

in London from Iraq and we have had a→

discussions

number of talks with him resulting in his

accptance of the proposals put to him in a

letter dated 3rd July. A copy of this

letter was sent to your Department and

I have since heard from Secretan asking

to be informed

Colman',

to let you know as soon as his appointment

is settled.

Colman has confirmed

that he will not renew his contract with

the Iraq Government and that he will be

available to us as soon as he has taken

Contract

leave in respect of his Iraq service v Termsides

of heee closes on the 15th January, or passibly
