My dear Sterndale Bennett,
Many thanks for your letter F 3171/1147/G of the 7th of June. I am very sorry to find that your / earlier letter F 1543/1147/10 ōf the
19th March, enclosing a copy of Sir Horace Seymour's letter of the 21st of February, asking for guidance about the future of Hong Kong, had been overlooked.
I think the papers that you propose to send him would most certainly be useful and I have no comments or suggestions to add except that you may like to
include the enclosed copy of a note of guidance to the Colonial Office representative at the San Francisco Conference on policy regarding the fiture status of Hong Kong.
Yours sincerely,
(Sgd.) G.E.J.GENT:
J.C. Sterndɛle Bennett, Esq., CMG, MC.
