(i)
On October 12th. there were altogether 3,828 Japanese sick in the Colony, made up as follows:-

(ii) Seventeen Japanese war criminals are at present held in Block F at ST LEY Camp and others will be added as identification and evidence are completed. There are between 150 and 200 cases in hand. The case against Capt. SAITO, Japanese medical officer, has been materially aided by the discovery of looted Red Cross supplies which he had buried.
(iii) The 5,000 Japanese internees in WHITFIELD Barracks (which are required for the use of British troops) are being moved to STANEY, and the first 3 batches, totalling approximately 500 men, were evacuated from the Barracks on October 16th. Before departure each man's personal kit was carefully examined by Commandos, who discovered nothing of any intelligence value in the few diaries and papers found in the ossession of the Japanese. The diaries were confiscated in accordance with orders; the papers consisted almost entirely of letters from relatives and friends. Also confiscated were a number of knives and a few tools, plus a considerable amount of Japanese military currency. The whole operation was conducted efficiently and with despatch, and there were no incidunts.

CHINESE.
ITFIELD Barracks
(i) A Cantonusu medical practitioner, Col. FETER ESU, has visitud LONG KONG on behalf of Admiral CIC CHAK of CANTON in order to obtain office accomodation in HONG KONG for tho Admiral. No further details are as yet available.
(ii)
On October 8th a civilian nanod CEN st arrived by rail in MODLOOM. It was understood that ho vas Inspector-General to the Chinese Army and that his function was to co-ordinate on a vory level the Arry policy with the political side. Ko was to take up residence at 257, rince Edward Road, KOLOOM, where, incidentally there is a wireless transmitter, the closing down of which was proposud some wooks ago. CIENT SUN was not officially accredited to either the the C. IN C. or the C.0.0.
On October 14th it was learned that his visit vas said to be entirely unofficial and made for the sole purpose of seeing his old house. He left again for CANTON by American aircraft without the knowledge of M..K.
