(1) 114 Cond:rnes have been moved to STA: LEY for safe custody during the last week. A further 30 - 40 will be moved in the near future, end it is hoped to Save the whole organisation identifiable removed by the end or the current week. This action has had an excellent effect throughout the Colony.
The
(ii) The removal of Japanese civilians from ITFIELD to 31.LEY is proceeding and is now twenty per cont completod. Japanese have expressed sone concern at the nove and incidents have been reported of attempted escapes, and of efforts to communicate outside. It is considered that these tendancies will incrcase.
(iii) On October 21st, a Japanese named YAILCISI vas captured t SIO CHUI, while he was making for SHAN CHUN,

that he had escaped fron STANLEY on October 19th.
He stated
(iv) On October 22nd the total strength of Japanese prisoners of war and interneus remaining in KOWT.0017 une 15,427, made up as follows:-

(v) Japanese prisoners of ur continue to be employed in increasing numbers to repair the damnge done () by the Japanese in occupying HONG KONG, (b) by the Allies preparatory to their return and (c) by sheer neglect. This work, it is estimated, vill require many months of her labour, una constitutes a very suitable job for the Japanese, who were responsible, in the main, for the damage done.
(vi) Applications for release have been received by the British authoritics from two civilian internees. It is under- stood that permission will be withheld from cll such applicants ponding the receipt of.. ruling on the utter from higher Luthority.

CHINESE
The Chinese 13th Army is reported to be causing minor troubles in the course of its movement through the Colony. It is rumoured that the small detachment at TI 10 have been telling the villagers that they have come to the over there, and a strong protect has been sent to thoir (eneral against their presence there, as in comperuence of ht they have been telling the villagers, the latter have started enquiring when the Europeans will be leaving the Colony in favour of the Chinone.
