EXTRACT FROM RECOMMENDING OFFICER'S REPORT, AND/OR DIARY REFERENCES.

"Inspector Nolloth at West Point is to be commended for the manner in which he ran his district during the war & after the surrender. He was always reliable and fully in touch with all that went on in his district. After the Belchers Street fire and the burning and dynamiting of food godowns along the waterfront on or about the 14th he was faced daily with continual looting which he suppressed effectively. The tremendous food queues in Des Voeux Road West were a continual source of anxiety and needed careful & tactful handling."
"I strongly recommend these officers for conspicuous gallantry during the war in full sight of the enemy on the morning of 10th December." (Please see Diary Entry No. 3 of December 10th,1941.)
This recommendation has also been made by Mr. Calthrop in Paragraph I (a).
"For gallantry in rescuing a Chinese female and child from the debris of a dwelling house that was being shelled with bombs dropping in close proximity. Sergeant Hutchison showed great courage and personal risk in affecting this rescue; one child was killed. The house was No. 83 Wing Fong Street, 3rd Floor. He dug unaided for 3 hours, removing debris before he was able to rescue the woman and child. This occurred between 09.30 and 11.30 hours on December 21st, 1,941."

"I would strongly recommend these officers for merit. They were attached to the Special Constabulary on air raid shelters and performed excellent work under the most trying circumstances shelling, bombing and fires. They were out daily from 06.00 to 18.00arrying on the good work of rescue and attending to the comfort of the public. Their work stretched from Causeway Bay to Hill Road, West Point, and under the most trying conditions and lack of food they carried out their duties most efficiently and chee fully from 12th to 25th December. I recommend these officers as a result of my own personal observation of their work."
un the afternoon of the 24th December Messrs. Heath & Luscombe had left No.2 Station with two police patrols on duty. Referring to their return before they entered the Station, r. Heath comments as follows :-
"The station had been under shell and mortar fire continually throughout the afternoon and it was difficult for anyone to leave or return through the
station compound. When we got near
