A Proclamation announcing the division of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies into Districts for the purpose of the administration of civil affairs.

IT IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED as follows :-

Short title. 1. This Proclamation may be cited as the Civil Affairs

(Administrative Districts) Proclamation, 194

2.(1).For the purpose of the administration of civil affairs, the Colony of Hong Kong, and its Dependencies, is divided into the following districts :-

(a) the Island of Hong Kong, together with the islands known as Aplichau, Green Island,Kellet Island and Stonecutters Island and the harbour of Victoria;

(b) Kowloon, together with that part of the New Territories

known as New Kowloon;

(c) that part of the New Territories described in paragraph (a) of an Order by the Governor in Council made under the New Territories Regulation Ordinance, 1910, on the 27th September, 1912, and therein called the Northern District;

(a) that part of the New Territories described in paragraph

(b) of the said Order and therein called the Southern District.

(2).The several districts above mentioned are hereinafter respectively referred to as

(a

the Island;

(b) Kowloon and New Kowloon;

C the Northern District;

(a) the Southern District.

(3).The said districts may, by notification in the Gazette, be divided into separate areas wherein the administration of civil affairs may be conducted by such officers of the Civil Affairs Service as I may from time to time appoint.

311).The Deputy Chief Civil Affairs Officer or such other Civil Affairs Officer as I may from time to time appoint shall have full authority to conduct on my behalf the administration of civil affairs in the Island, subject always to any orders or directions which I may from time to time issue.

(2).Such Civil Affairs Officers as I may from time to time appoint for the purpose shall have full authority to conduct on my behalf the administration of civil affairs in the several districts referred to as Kowloon and New Kowloon, the Northern District and the Southern District respectively, subject always to any orders or directions which I may from time to time issue.

(3).Appointments made under the prec ed ing provisions will be notified in the Gazette.
