Proclamation to provide for the military admini- stration of the civil population of Malaya.
I,
General Officer Commanding Military Forces, Malaya, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Supreme Allied Commander, South East Asia Command, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM AND ORDER
1. This Proclamation may be cited as the Military dministration (Delegation of Powers) roclamation.

Subject always to any orders and directions which I may issue from time to time, I hereby delegate to the Chief Civil ffairs Officer, Malaya, full authority, power and jurisdiction to conduct on my behalf the military administration of the civil population of Malaya, with power further to delegate the exercise of any such authority, power or jurisdiction to such persons and within such areas as he may think fit.
3. (1) For purposes of the Military Administration of the civil population, the Chief Civil Affairs Officer may, at such time as he shall think fit, by notice or by notification in the British Military Administration Gazette, divide Malaya into two Divisions to be known respectively as -
(a) The Malay Peninsula Division, comprising the
Settlement of Ponang and the Settlement of Malacca, the Malay States of Porak, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Johore, Kodah, Kelantan, Trongganu and Forlis, all islands forming part of such States and the territorial waters thereof.
(b) The Singapore Division, comprising the Settle-
ment of Singapore.
(2) Each such Division shall be administered by a Deputy Chief Civil Affairs Officer.
(3) The Chief Civil Affairs Officer may by notice or by notification in the said Gazette further divide each Division into Regions, each such Region being administered by a senior Civil Affairs Officer subject to the orders and directions of the Deputy Chief Civil
ffairs Officer of the Division.

Each Deputy Chief Civil Affairs Officer shall have authority to conduct the military administration of the civil population in the Division assigned to him, subject always to the provisions of any Proclamation and to the orders and directions of the Chief Civil ffairs Officer and of the local military Commander stationed in the Division.
