(5) A commissioner shall be eligible from time to
time for reappointment.
(6) During the temporary absence of the Chairman
owing to leave, sickness or for any other reason the
Governor may appoint one of the principal officers
of the Port Trust referred to in section 18 to act
in his place, and such person shall, during the
period in which he acts as Chairman, be deemed for
all the purposes of this Ordinance to be the
Chairman and shall be included in the expression
"Chairman" wherever used in this Ordinance.
(7) In the case of illness or absence of any
commissioner other than the Chairman, the Governor
may appoint a deputy to act in the place of such
commissioner during his illness or absence.
(8) On the occurrence of any vacancy in the
office of a commissioner, the person appointed to fill
the vacant office shall, subject to this Ordinance,
hold office for the remainder of the unexpired term
of the vacant office.
A commissioner shall be deemed to have vacated
his office
(a) if he becomes bankrupt, compounds with his
creditors, or makes an assignment of his
fees, or estate for their benefit.
(b) if, being a nominated commissioner, he is
absent from four consecutive ordinary
meetings of the Port Trust without leave
obtained from the Port Trust in that behalf,
or, having received such permission,
is
absent from such meetings for more than
nine consecutive months;
(c) if he accepts any employment for profit under
the Port Trust.
