Training of Nurses.

Adequate facilities for the training of Nurses and Midwives should be restored and both the Nurses and Midwives

To Health Inspectors and Health Visitors.

Arrangements should be made for courses of instruction

and training for Health Inspectors and Health Visitors and for

the re-establishment of the Hong Kong Board of Examiners of the 'Royal Sanitary Institute.

Medical Institutions,

Every effort should be made to re-open existing

hospitals and, if necessary, to equip and staff emergency hospitals

to meet the needs of the population.

9. Special Institutions.

Adequate accommodation for the segregation and treatment

of cases of infectious diseases, mental patients and lepers should

be provided. Steps should be taken to arrange for the transfer

of mental patients and of lepers to suitable institutions,

Government or Missionary, in South China, by the conclusion of

agreements with local Chinese Authorities and the Missionary

bodies concerned,

Nutrition.

It will be the duty of the Director of Medical Services,

in collaboration with the other Departments concerned, to frame a nutritional policy for the Colony, Early consideration should

be given to the question of restricting the importation, for

consumption in the Colony, of highly milled rice, which should be

replaced by undermilled rice.
