Estimates.
I have signed provisional general warrant providing for payment personal emoluments at rates in 1941 Estimates and as since approved by you and by Military Administration. Necessary other charges for period May July totalling dollars 15,694,638 have been included together with dollare 2,250,831 in respect of speciel expenditure which will ultimately be chargeable to loan, Latter includes provision for continuation of programme reconditiouing Government buildings, wat or supply, anti-malarial work, anti-epidemic measures etc. It also covers repairs to railway tunnels, which probably otherwiso collapse due to rains which have now started, and filling in Japanese tunnels whose collapse would cause landslidos with serious result ant dansge.
Hope to be able to introduce into Legislativo Council in late June or beginning July Estimates of Revere and Expenditure for period ending 31st March,
1947, Colony will be dependent on His Majesty's Government for assistance, and will forward in advance by telegram for consideration and approval by Treasury statements showing expenditure under each head with explanation of principal features,
