Head 30. Public Works Extraordinary
Provision was included for two additional items
under Section A, Rehabilitation, Sub-head 2, Buildings.
These were $40,000 for the construction of an additional
Court and $25,000 to cover the cost of repair of a temporary
Tuberculosis Sanatorium. The additional Court is being
provided as a result of an internal re-arrangement of the
Supreme Court building which of course involves structural
alterations. It has become necessary as a considerable
increase in litigation is expected when the Moratorium is
lifted.
The need for some form of temporary Tuberculosis
Sanatorium has become very urgent as a number of curable
cases at present have to be turned away because there is
no suitable institution to which they can be sent.

Head 11.
Harbour Department and Air Services
Provision was included under a new Sub-head 28 for
the salaries of the technical advisers who are visiting
the Colony in connection with the proposals for the future
working of the port. A sum of $80,000 was provided for
this purpose.
Head 34. Development Secretariat
Sub-head 9 "Experimental Disposal of Nightsoil
in New Territories" was reduced to $30,000 as this was
found to be sufficient to cover any experimental work
required.
