We were asked a short while ago by the Hong Kong Planning Unit to supply approximate statements of the financial position. We also thought that Stokes (who has just arrived), would like to have these statements which show that the accounts which he will now probably take over are all balanced up to 31st March, 1944.

A copy of these statements has been sent to the Hong Kong Planning Unit and I enclose a copy for your information. The "Balance Sheet" is little more than a list of balances in the books and no revaluations of investments at market valuation or other adjustments which might be necessary under C.R's have been made.
