remainder in private schools. Four of the school buildings equisitioned by the Military Authorities are being freed this month, but another four of the finest school buildings in Hong Kong are still occupied. Further expansion depends chiefly on the speed at which suitable buildings can be acquired, re-built or de-requisitioned. There is a surplus of teachers at the moment, and supplies of new desks are being obtained. Lab. equipment is, of course, lacking but that is on order.

I am told that Richard Edwards has been recomme-ded for a posthumous decoration. He did very well in the "fighting out here. His widow & children have now returned from Australia to England.
