Whereas the University of Hong rong (in this order called "the University") is established and incorporated under the University Ordinance,1911, (in this Order called "the ordinance") of the Colony of Hong Kong (in this Order called "the Colony") and the University was governed by a Chancellor, Court, Council and Senate whose powra wore prescribed by the Crdinance and
the Statutes set out originally in the Schedule to the ordinance and now as amended in the Appendix to the Order of the Governor of the Colony in Council dated the 17th August, 1939, and incorporated in the Regulations of liong kong (1937 Edition):
And whereas circumstances have arisen in the Colony by
reason of which the Chancellor, Court, Council and Senate are unable to exercise the functions vested in them by the Crdinance and the statutos!
And whereas it is expedient that a Committee should be
appointed to exercise cortain of the powers given to the
Chancellor and the senate under the ordinance and the statutes:
Now, therefore, liis ajesty in exorcise of all powers
enabling bia in that behalf is pleased by and with the advice
of the Privy Council to order, and it is hereby ordered as
follows:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Hong Kong University (Medical Degrees) Order in Council,1945.
2. As from the date of this order there shall be constituted
@ Comittee to be known as the Emergency Comittee for the Conferment of Medical Degrees of the University consisting of
the persons' whose names are set out in the Schoɛule hereto
and such other persons as a ecretary of state shall from time
to time appoint either in addition to or in substitution for the
said persons. The powers of the Committɗo may be exercised
at a meeting at which three or more members are present.
3.
Notwithstanding anything contained in the rdinance and
the Statutes the Committee shall have power to perfora the
