Whereas the University of Hong Kong (in this Order
called "the University") is established and incorporated
under the University Ordinance, 1911, (in this Order
called "the Ordinance ") of the Colony of Hong Kong (in
this Order called "the Colony") and provision is made for
the Government of the University by a Chancellor, Court,
Council and Senate whose powers are prescribed by the
Ordinance and the Statutes set forth in the Regulations
of Hong Kong (1937 Edition):
And whereas circumstances have arisen in the Colony
by reason of which it is expedient that a Committee should
be appointed to exercise certain of the powers of the
Chancellor and the Senate under the Ordinance and the
Statutes:
Now, therefore, His Majesty in exercise of all powers
enabling him in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the
advice of the Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby
ordered, as follows:-
1.(1) This Order may be cited as the Hong Kong
University (Medical Degrees) Order in Council, 1945.
.(2) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the
interpretation of this Order as it applies for the
interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
The (1) There shall be constituted a Committee to be known as the University of Hongkong Medical Degrees
Emergency Committee,consisting of such persons as a Secretary of State shall from time to time appoint, who shall hold office on such terms as a Secretary of State
may determine.
In
(2) One of the members shall be appointed by the
Secretary of State to be chairman of the Committee.
the absence of the Chairman for any meeting of the
Committee the members present shall appoint one of their ·
number to act as Chairman for that meeting.
