Sir Sidney Abrahams, in the absence on leave of Mr. Roberts-Wray, particularly the second paragraph of Mr. Roberts-Wray's minute of the 3rd August. Sir S. Abrahams agrees with the previous minutes that the suggestion of the General Medical Council that it might be possible to provide in the Order in Council that these emergency degrees granted in this country should be deemed to have been granted in Hong Kong, is not practicable. understand that it must be accepted, therefore, that the difficulty referred to in paragraph 2(a) of (21), namely that the grant of degrees in this country as opposed to their grant in a British possession, will preclude the holders from registration as Colonial Practitioners with the General Medical Council until such time as the position can be regularised in Hong Kong.
2. In fact, the cessation of the war with Japan makes it of very much less importance to secure registration with the G.M.C. for the holders of Hong Kong emergency degrees since there is now no question of bringing any of them to this country and the matter can in any case be regularised in Hong Kong within the fairly near future.
