It was agreed that Dr. King would obtain from one or other of his old students at present in this country, a sample diploma as previously issued by the University. The University seal is at present in the Embassy safe in Chungking and it was agreed that it would be worthwhile asking the Ambassador to send it to this country by safe hand when a suitable opportunity occurred.

The Committee will confer the degrees on the strength of certificates made by Dr. Gordon King to the effect that the students in question had

(a) gone through two or more years of

medical study in the University of

Hong Kong, and

(b) completed the curriculum in one of the

medical colleges previously specified by Dr. Gordon King. The General Medical Council will then register their names.

Mr. Sedgwick (who was present) undertook to remind the Hong Kong Planning Unit that when they set up the Military Government in Hong Kong it would be necessary to issue an early proclamation reviving the machinery for adding the names of doctors to the local register.

It now remains to draft the relevant Order-in-Council which perhaps Mr. Hastings would kindly undertake. I take it that the names intended for the Committee will be given in a schedule attached to the

Order
