The Chiefs f Staff have asked the views of the Colonial Office on the Chinese requests as set out in paragraph 2 of telegramG19695.
I have discussed with Brigadier French and we have agreed that these are matters concerning the military Administration of Hong Kong rather than the Col nial Office primarily and that the comments should, therefore, £o as from the War Office. 1 have, however, precu with
