HONG KONG JAPANESE SURRENDER

THE COMMITTEE had before them a telegram from C.-in-C. Hong Kong asking if he could be given an indication of the probable date of signing as the American and Chinese representatives had now been in Hong Kong for four days.
SIR ANDREW CUNNINGHAM said that the Admiralty had been in touch with the Foreign Office and had produced a draft reply which, if the Chiefs of Staff approved, the Foreign Office would like referred back to them for formal
concurrence.
THE COMMITTEE:-
Approved the draft telegram circulated
by the First Sea Lord, and instructed the Secretary to obtain the concurrence of the Foreign Office before despatch.
