4ɔ ́ My G/1794/S of 211015 para 2.

One. Herewith summary of Ride's report repeated

by him in full to SACSEA Armindia.

(A) Americans intended one planr for Canton two

for Hongkong. One cancelled before leaving Kunming one did not

apparently continue beyond Liuchow.

(B). Remaining plane put down at Canton. Intention to leave a recce party there while remainder went on

Hongkong.

(C) Party leader U.States naval lieutenant

contacted General Tomida Japanese commander who refused to allow party to operate and stated General Tanaka at Hongkong

would also refuse.

(D) Reported that Tomida was friendly but younger

officers and other ranks were arrogant and menacing.

(E) Later Tomida stated trouble might ensue owing

attitude of his officers and requested party return to base.

(F). After some discussion plane took off 1845 hours

and party returned unming.
