7. THE BISHOP OF HONG KONG.

MR. MacDOUGALL wished the Bishop to be commissioned in the Unit in order that he might be available in Hong Kong at the earliest possible moment. The general feeling was, however, that there were obvious disadvantages in such a course, even if it were accepted by the War Office.

IT WAS AGREED, however, that the Bishop would be able to make a valuable contribution to the restoration of normal life in Hong Kong, particularly in the field of relief and it was, therefore, important that he should enter the Colony as a civilian as soon after its liberation as possible. COLONEL TAYLOR fully appreciated this and agreed to do all that he could to ensure it.
