My dear Paskin,
One of the many things I promised to do and have not done was to send you a note about the organization of the Police Department in its temporary form as approved on the War Establishment. You were concerned, and rightly, we had not secured Treasury
that
authority for the extra posts which appeared on the Military
Establishment and would later appear on the Civil Establishment when the military period had ended.
B.D. Edmonds will have
told you that we had a successful meeting with James of the Treasury yesterday; I enclose a copy of a note about the meeting which shows that we now possess full Treasury
