Your paragraph 1. . Sub-paragraph (1): 30th September 1942 when notice expired. Sub-paragraph (2): from 1st October 1942. Sub-paragraph (3): option has presumably. been exercised previously in Hong Kong. As most officers have probably elected for lump sum and in absence of evidence Sedgwick may use discretion. Sub-paragraph (4): yes. Where pension is reduced, contribution is based on unreduced pension.

Your paragraph 3. 4. Your paragraph 4. Rate of pension for non-Europeans after 10 year's service is 15/60th of salary plus 1/720th for each complete month in excess of 10 years. Maximum is 2/3rds of salary.

Commuted payment of 5 times amount of annual pension may be granted in lieu of pension and of option in sub- paragraph (3) above. No abolition addition.

We will endeavour to obtain copies.

5. Your paragraph 5, Under Pension Regulation C a non- pensionable officer with not less than 15 years unbroken service may be granted an annual allowance not exceeding three- fourths of the pension which he might have been granted had he been pensionable. This may be commuted for 5 such annual payments except in cases of retirement on health grounds. provision also applies to officers with not less than 10 years service except that "half" should be substituted for "three- fourths".
