Your telegram No.326 [of 23rd March: Hong Kong Government ex-employees].

One sixth for quarters should be added to final salary (or to average salary for last three years if promoted within that period) in the case of officers subject to the provisions of Pensions Ordinance but not, repeat not, in the case of officers subject to the Police Force Ordinance.

2. There is no provision in Police Pension Regulations for addition to pension in respect of abolition of office as there is in Regulation 16 made under Pensions Ordinance.

(a) Paragraphs 3 and 4. Date to be taken should be 30th September 1942. Fresh option for reduced allowance and lump sum may be exercised in cases of abolition of office. Otherwise original option irrevocable.

(b) Paragraph 5. Contributions to W. & 0. Pension Scheme should continue on retiring salary or on unreduced pension rate until contributions have been paid for 35 years in all or to age of 65. New pensions will be computed by Crown Agents if full particulars sent.

(c) Paragraph 6. As officers mentioned have been given notice of termination of Hong Kong employment they are eligible for pension allowances although employed by Embassy but are subject to recall by Hong Kong

Government. Married officers to continue contributions to W. & O. Pension Scheme. Bachelors may cease and receive back half contributions without interest. Widowers without children may cease and receive back half contributions paid since last wife died or any child ceased to be pensionable.
