INDIA OFFICE,

S.W. 1.

6th July 1942.

Dear Thornley,

I enclose a copy of a letter from Miss Ida Pruitt of the American Committee in Aid of Chinese Industrial Cooperatives to Sir Stafford Cripps, the original of which has been forwarded to Mr. Amery for his consideration by Sir Stafford.

I should be very grateful if you could let me know as soon as possible whether the Colonial Office have any information about the International Committee which used to be in Hong- kong, referred to in the fourth paragraph of this letter. It would be particularly helpful if we could know what kind of activities they carried on and whether their presence was found to give rise to any political difficulties.

Yours singeдely,

C.H. Thornley, Esq.
