I anclose a copy of an extract from a report on the fall of Hong Kong which has been supplied by lrs. Aloha E. Chields, the American wife of A. L. Shields a partner in Shewan Tomes and
Company, who was repatriated to the United States on the Gripsholm. I have not given you a copy of the whole report as it deals almost entirely with the civilian side of events and does not add anything important to our previous knowledge. At the same time Krs. Shields was anxious that Sapper Bob Heath's relatives should learn of the courage and initiative which he displayed and so I am sending you the relevant extract from her report in the hopes that you can see that it is passed on.
