STOCK MARKETS UPWARD TREND IN HONGKONG

Hongkong: Stocks of all Chinese managed commercial concerns in Hongkong especially department stores indicate an upward trend in the market. A notable case is the Sincere Company's stocks with face value of two Hongkong dollars now sells at 17 dollars, sharp contrast to the pre-war price which slumped lower than the one dollar mark. Even considering Hongkong dollar cheaper now by one-fourth the stock of the Sincere Company has more than doubled in value. Stock of the Wing On Company also is up. Stock rated at 450 dollars pre-war, jumped to 2,000 dollars. Other Chinese business houses which prove popular in stock market are Shanghai Wing On Company and Arugon Spinning Company. The former's stock soared from pre-war price of 600 dollars to current value of 5,000 or 6,000 dollars while the latter's jumped from 300 dollars to 6,000 or 7,000. Economic observers
