Viscount Cranborne to acknowledge receipt of your report dated 3rd February on the circumstances of your escape from Hong Kong on the night of 25th December,1941.
2. The Secretary of State wishes me to convey to you his congratulations on the success of this hazardous enter- prise and to express his appreciation both or the personal initiative, which you displayed in the face of so many dangers and difficulties, and of the manner in which you discharged the responsibility which you had undertaken in respect of the personel safety of Admiral Chan Chak.
