This check will likely be this to get the sampan or be shot. presented after the war and I hope the bank refuses to honour it as it was blackmail from a Chinese whom I don't think even owned the sampan, so I merely did this to lure him into letting me get my hands on the sampan. Am probably going to join/the American Volunteer (Air) group here or go on to Calcutta or possibly Canada by air and join a Canadian battalion and I hope I'm in on Hongkong when we take it back, if we ever do.

There is a more complete list of those killed whose names you probably know but I have not that list on me at present but you can obtain that list from the Embassy at Chungking by cable or air mail.

I may be able to cable you here from the Consulate asking you if there is any information you want by cable, if I can get the Consulate to pay for the cable. I shall try this to-day.
