sir,

I have the honour to transmit herewith an extract from a report received through the Military Attache from a confidential source concerning conditions in Stanley Gaol, Hongkong. The report was written in February, 1943, and appears to give an authentic account of the fate of three Police Officers and an engineer who were recaptured by the Japanese after an attempt to escape in March 1942.

An additional copy of this report is attached for transmission to the Colonial Office.

The Right Honourable,

Anthony Eden, M.C., M.P.,

London, S.W.1.

I have etc.
