(a) A one year trade agreement for exchange of goods between HongKong and Central China has been announced. Starting from April 1st 1943, Hongkong will supply Central China with mat-rush bags, sugar, manila cordage, ammonia, chloride and gunpowder to the value of 16.8 million yen against 24.4. million yen's worth of beans, beancake, flour, cotton yarn, cotton textiles, plate glass, various foodstuffs, paper, chemicals and other commodities.

(b)

The raw materials for these industries will have to be imported into Hongkong, and this trend is towards a revival of the former Hongkong entrepot Trade.
