You will see a reference to Morris Cohen in my letter to Williams, 32 copy of which is enclosed. I understand he is being given a hearing under Chinese auspices in various parts of Canada. If any of these get back to you the thing to remember I think is that Cohen is not to be taken seriously; the Chinese have a sentimental regard for him as the personal bodyguard of Sun Yat Sen but he is not on the inside of anything. He is a friend of mine but is certainly not the man to be trusted with any significant information.
As for Mrs. Zaitzeff I hope there will be no complications about arranging for her maintenance in Canada; she deserves well of us and is now in rather a difficult spot in this country. She has, in my opinion, every claim to Government support as the wife of an imprisoned Government servant. I'll get as many details about her husband as I can from W. M. Thomson in Washington.
It would be fitting I think if someone at home were to thank Mr. Paterson and his staff through the proper channels for all they have done for our people; nothing has been too much trouble to them and it has made all the difference to these repatriates.
