PRESENT
The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.
Whereas circumstances have arisen in the Colony of
Hong Kong (hereinafter called "the Colony") which render d
expedient that provision should be made whereby eertain
powers vested in the Governor of the Colony (hereinafter
called "the Governor") and other authorities under laws
in force in the Colony should, so long as the said

and that such laws should be modified in eertain other
respects;
And Whereas the said powers include those conferred
upon the Governor by the Emergency Powers (Defence) Act,
1939, as extended to the Colony;
Now, therefore, His Majesty in exercise of his powers
under the said Act and of all other powers enabling him
in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of his
Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as
follows:
1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Hong Kong (Temporary
Provisions) Order in Council, 1942.
(3) The Interpretation Act, 1889, shall apply for the
interpretation of this Order as it applies for the
interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
(2) In the Order, the word
enactment" means -
