Short title

and interpretation.

Application of moneys of Hong Kong Government.

The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas circumstances have arisen in the Colony

of Hong Kong (hereinafter called "the Colony") which

make it expedient that provision should be made whereby

go long as the said circumstances continue, certain

functions exercisable by the Governor of the Colony

(hereinafter called "the Governor") and other

authorities under laws in force in the Colony should

be exercisable otherwise and that such laws should be

modified in other respects;

Now, therefore, His Majesty in exercise of all

powers enabling Him in that behalf, is pleased, by and

with the advice of His Privy Council, to order, and it

is hereby ordered, as follows :-

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Hong Kong

(Temporary Provisions) Order in Council, 1942.

(2) The Interpretation Act, 1889, shall apply

for the interpretation of this Order as it applies

for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

2. (1) Notwithstanding anything contained in any

enactment, the Crown Agents for the Colonies shall have

power, with the approval of the Secretary of State,

to apply any funds or moneys for the time being under

their control and belonging to the Government of the

Colony, for any of the following purposes :-

the discharge of any debts or obligations

of the Government of the Colony;
