Mr. Chen you will appreciate that so far as concerns the first
matter you mentioned, theдlist of your enemies, no official use was
made by this Commission of any of the contents of that list; and
therefore the organ of the press against which you complain here can
certainly not say that they have given a fair report of the proceed-
ings at this Inquiry. I cannot offer you more solatium in the matter,
I regret. If you never have any greater grievance against the local
press than that they substituted one work for another you can
consider yourself an exceedingly fortunate man.
Secretary: May I say that all the papers, including the list now men-
tioned, have been under lock and key in my possession since they were
put in.
