Chairman:
We are anxious to get on; and in this I know, Mr. Forrest, that squares completely with your own view and your interest in the matter; so we will adjourn now until Friday morning the 14th at 10 a.m. The Council Chamber is required for other meetings in the interim. During the intervening two days we shall see that copies of certain files and extracts from files are made available to you and on Friday morning we shall be greatly obliged if you will give us your own evidence on the financial side in answer to what we have heard from Mr. Pudney, Mr. Barton and the Auditor, and also call any witnesses you desire to call on that issue. We are dealing throughout with your first premises in Marina House are they still in the same condition as then? I don't mean the crowds but structurally?
Mr. Fofrest.
Structurally one very slight alteration if the Commissioners wish to visit them I shall be only too glad to show them. (After discussion it was decided that Commissioners visit the Immigration Department at Marine House on Wednesday the 12th March at 9.30 a.m.).
The Commissioners visited the head office of the Immigration Department, Marine House, on 12th March at 9.30 a.m. and the office of the General Agent in Wyndham Street at 10.15 a.m.
Mr. Brown,
Mr. Woo and Mr. Drummond, accompanied by Mr. Barnett visited the Deposit Refund and Passport Office in Queen's Building at 10.30 a.m. At 2.45 p.m. the Commissioners visited the Immigration Depart 160 Connaught Road West.
Owing to the indisposition of Mr. Forrest it was decided to adjourn the further sittings of the Commission until further
notice.
