Q.
You told the Commission also that Mr. Kobza had no special bank
account?
No, I did not say that. I said he paid in money to Government by
cheques drawn on Kobza Art Studios Account.
The Chairman:
I asked whether one would not expect an agent in
such circumstances would open a special account. I see that in
fact one of the stipulations in this agreement is that the bankers
of the General Agent shall be the Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank and
he shall keep a current account at the bank for the purpose of
this agreement.
Mr. Forrest. Mr. Pudney, have you noticed if any of his cheques
have anything printed at the top over the date?
I did not notice.
Not whether No. 1 or No.2 Account was printed?
I did not.
You would be surprised to hear that Kobza Art Studios, in that
name, had two accounts in the Bank?
Mr. Kobza told me that himself.
You will remember when I rang you up on the Sunday afternoon
before Chinese New Year in a state of desperate trepidation,
that was on the matter of deposit receipts?

Yes.
I told you why it was so urgent?
Because your supply had run out.
And did I not say further that it had only just been brought to
my notice and it was the fault of my store-keeper who had let me
down?
Yes.
You say the receipt forms were not initialled but had a rubber
stamp?
Yes.
