The tunnels immediately below and in the

vicinity of Government House have been carefully

examined.

No movement is apparent in the timber

sets of any of these tunnels.

These tunnels are kept under constant

surveillance and at no time has any settlement of

the posts occurred.

During the last fortnight seeping of

water through the lagging in the roof of a portion

of the lower dugout has been much in evidence. This

may indicate that a vein of ground overlying this

portion of the tunnel is in an unstable condition.

The fault may and probably does extend up to and

embrace the north front of Government House.
