Sir,

-4NOV 1941 C..

L.P.-No. 8.

Admiralty, BATH.

1st November,19 41.

With reference to Cotenial Office letter No. 53934/41 dated the 18th August, 1941, and enclosures relating to the damage done to Government House, Hong Kong, consequent upon the construction of underground Air Raid Shelter tunnels, I am commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to state, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that if the Governor is compelled to vacate Government House they agree that he should occupy Admiralty House in the emergency, on the understanding that a new Government House will be built as soon as conditions permit.

In such event My Lords assume they will be relieved of the responsibility for repairs and maintenance and upkeep of the grounds.

I am, Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

& Miccar
