FURTHER ACTION.

Please refer to your letter

of the 13th of April regarding the

recovery of amounts disbursed by the

Australian authorities on account of

Hong Kong evacuees. The Crom Agents

have paid to the Commonwealth High

Cr. in London claims up to the end of

November 1941 from Hong Kong funds and the sum of £5,200 (Sterling) has been

transferred from the Colonial Office

Vote to the credit of Hong Kong funds

in respect of maintenance allowances

to the end of Nov ember also.

I now forward copies of two

telegrams, Nos. 702 and 729, from

Australia on this subject with the

following comments.

No. 702 para. 1. Adjustment can!

now be made regarding the above sum of

£5,200 as the exact amount (£A.6,400.

19s.2d. equals £Sterling 5,120.15s.44.)

is known. The equivalent in stelling

of the two items SA.414.4s.4d. and

SA.
