With referevce to your two letters 54058/4 dated 25th August and 2nd October, 1942, respectively I am commanded by the Army Council to inform you that, as stated in Admiralty letter WGF.457/42 dated 7th September, 1942, Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the claim rendered by the Consul General at Manila amounting to Pesos 167,876.50 in respect of expenses incurred on the evacuation from Hong Kong to Australia will be accepted by this Department. It is assumed that steps will now be taken, as proposed by you, to obtain the agreement of the Comptroller and Auditor General to the acceptance of the claim without supporting vouchers and that when this has been done a Receivable Order will be forwarded for the amount to be paid from Army Funds,
