POLICE REFUSAL TO PERMIT HER RETURN
TO COLONY UPHELD
CHIEF JUSTICE'S DECISION.

Without making any order as to costs, the Chief Justice, Sir Atholl MacGregor, yesterday gave judgment in favour of the Police, in the case brought by Mrs. Blair to contest an order for her evacuation from the Colony after Police refusal to permit her return to reside here.

The Chief Justice had previously reserved judgment, which he said he would give in writing. found in effect that the Defence (Entry Restrictions) Regulations of 1940 were not ultra vires.
The action had been looked upon as a test case regarding the compulsory evacuation of British women of European descent and refusal to permit them to return.
