DEPARTMENT OF MINES AND RESOURCES

IMMIGRATION BRANCH,

HONG KONG.

December, 17th, 1940.

Dear Sir,

I have yours of the 16th instant, with reference

to Salaries Tax.

You certainly jump to conclusions without any

good reasons for doing so. If you will again read the second

paragraph of my last letter, you will note that as regards

myself, I have paid in full Canadian taxes for the year 1939

and you have proof to that effect.

In accordance with the provisions of the War Taxa-

tion Ordinance, I am not liable to local taxes and I have

nothing further to say in the matter.

Yours truly,

Sd. E.S. Doughty.

The Assistant Commissioner,

Unit II,

War Taxation Department,

HONG KONG.
