I don't know whether Sargent is thinking of some assistance to Chinese Students during the war, or after it. If the latter, the Hong Kong scheme which, it is to be hoped, will be revived, will do something to meet his viewo. he should be thinking of the war period itself, which hardly seems likely, in view of transport and other difficulties, then no doubt the Trustees will be willing to consider the transfer of the offer to Hong Kong to such Chinese students as might be able to avail themselves of it under

present conditions. ¿ But I hardly think that the Rhodes Scholar- ships proper could be extended to China.
