ith reference to Lieutenant-General E.F.Norton's
despatch No.473 of 20th November, 1940, I have the honour to inform Your Lordship that, since Your Lordship's sanction
to the retirement of Commander G.F.Hole, R.N.(Retired), has now been conveyed in Your Lordship's telegram No.453 of 23rd May, 1941, I recommend that the temporary appointment
of Mr. William James Carrie, Chairman, Urban Council, as an
official member of Legislative Council should now be made
definitive and to request that His Majesty's pleasure in the
matter may be ascertained.
