east of SAM MUN KWAN (Long.114° 39' East. Lat. 22° 26' North), a Japanese
warship, one funnel, two masts, flying the Japanese flag, approached us
from the South East. When the warship was near to us, they blew a
whistle and we lowered our sails. The warship then came alongside our
junk and about 14 sailors dressed in white uniform and armed with swords
and axes boarded my junk. The sailors out the riggings and removed my
cargo of oranges onto the warship. They then searched my junk and took
away my licence book and threw my rifle and 3 cannons overboard.
then knocked two holes in the bottom of the junk after which they mikut
reboarded the warship which sailed away in the Southerly direction.
then repaired the junk as best as we could and sailed to Hong Kong.
