"On this happy occasion may I send you and your staff the deep appreciation both of myself and my staff for all your help and good will during the dark and difficult days which are now past. I well know what these long years of war have meant to China. Now that the time has come for us to build the peace I am locking forward to the opportunities awaiting all of us so that the world we build may be worthy of the sacrifices of our peoples.
