Filters.
60. It is assumed that rapid gravity filters are adopted,
the layout being similar to that at Shok-lai-pui, the site
selected being just to the North of the main read about 300
yards East of that leading to the Jubilee Reservoir.
61. A ricefield now occupies the site, which would
necessitate carrying foundations to a considerable depth, and
it has therefore been assumed for the purpose of estimating,
that a clear water tænk having an available content of about
2 millien gallens is constructed below the filter house and
pumping station, which would also serve as the "sump" from which
the pumps would draw.
62.
Owing to the low level of the ground end its character,
it has been assumed that the whole of this tank is constructed
as part of the first instalment.

Occupy a central position, the filters being in two wings/as
required to meet the growth of supply, filters capable of dealing
with 10 million gallons per diem being installed in the first
instance, the complete installation being capable of dealing
with 40 million gallons per diem.
Pumping Station No. 1.
64. lt is understood from enquiries which were made,
that the China Light & Power Company would be able to supply
the current necessary for electrical pumping, and we have
therefore assumed that electrically operated pumps are installed
to lift the water into a new service reservoir to be presently
described, plant being established to pump a maximum quantity
of 10 million gallons per diem in the first instance.
